Magical Islands. Bio-diverse Marine. World-class Scuba Diving.

Beaches that stretch for miles, prawns fresh from the sea, cheap beer and sandy tracks, not to mention world-class scuba diving and sunset bars with the friendliest proprietors in Africa: Mozambique is a rustic, laidback paradise on the southeast coast of Africa.

Extending roughly 2,500 kilometres along the Indian Ocean, this former Portuguese colony also comprises magical islands just offshore, notably the Bazaruto Archipelago in the south and the Quirimbas Archipelago to the north – both known for their white-sand beaches, coral reefs and turquoise seas inhabited by dolphins, whale sharks and manta rays.

With such a vast coastline running north to south, Mozambique’s landscape becomes increasingly tropical as one heads northwards towards Tanzania. The south boasts dramatic sunsets over sand dunes, wild beaches and lush coastal bush teeming with indigenous birdlife. Explore mangrove channels in a traditional white-sailed dhow, or laze under the palms on a pristine beach after a morning spent diving. The unchartered north is one of the most bio-diverse marine areas in the world. In this Eden of coastal panoramas, dugongs graze in sea grass meadows and turtles nest on the beaches.

Withworld-class fishing, snorkeling, scubadiving and bird watching, Mozambique is perfect for those wanting to combine solitude with the adventure of a lifetime.
